Separated at Birth?

My friend Jeff Schaller was in Berlin recently and snapped a photo of the restaurant wall, above, using his camera phone. He said that when he saw it, he thought of this painting of mine, posted below. What are the odds that two painted entities would be so inexplicably similar and that an artist would have seen one and remembered the other?
