Hodgson to name England’s Euro 2012 squad on May 16

The FA has confirmed the 64-year-old will announce his England squad for the European Championships next Wednesday, three days after the Premier League season draws to a close

The Football Association has confirmed that England manager Roy Hodgson will name his squad for Euro 2012 on Wednesday May 16 at 13.00.

The announcement will come three days after the Premier League season finishes on Sunday and ahead of the Champions League final on May 19, when a number of potential squad members will play for Chelsea in Munich.

England will fly to Spain for a training camp on May 21, before playing a friendly against Norway in Oslo five days later. Hodgson has until May 29 to make any changes to his 23-man party as a final list must be submitted to Uefa on that date.
The Three Lions will then take on Belgium at Wembley on June 2, before travelling to their base in Poland four days later. England face France in their opening match in Donetsk on June 11.
Recent reports have suggested that Hodgson will not be taking both Rio Ferdinand and John Terry with him to Poland and Ukraine. The choice that faces Hodgson over the two defenders will certainly be a talking point when he names his squad.

At the moment, Hodgson is still combining the England role with his managerial post at West Brom.

The 64-year-old is set to leave the Hawthorns at the end of the season as his final game as manager will be against Arsenal this Sunday.
