AFC U16 Championship Qualifiers: India defeated Bahrain


India 2-1 Bahrain 
India: Raja Rawat(52nd), Myron Mendes(Penalty 72nd)
Bahrain: Redha Marhoon (20th)


Indian U-16 team showed tremendous self belief and courage to overcome a one goal deficit against their opponent Bahrain and went on to win the match 2-1. While India faced the heat of conceding a early goal in the 20th minute when Redha Marhoon of Bahrain slotted it past Indian custodian Supratim Bhattacherjee from close range. It was India who dominated the half but somehow could not manage to covert their chances to goals.

Early in the second half, India equalized through Raja Rawat in the 52nd minute. Two minutes later, India got a penalty which alramzuava failed to convert. Indian team was looking more desperate to score the winner as they pushed harder and harder. The winning goal came at the 72nd minute when Lalramzuava’s free-kick was handed inside the box and referee pointed to the spot, which was eventually converted by Mryon Mendes. Uttam Rai nearly gave India a two goal lead but somehow that never happened.

India will face hosts Uzbekistan in their next match of the qualifiers on 5th October.
