ROME - Former New York Cosmos star Giorgio Chinaglia died of complications from a heart attack Sunday. Italian football has been great 65 years.
Chinaglia died at his home in Naples, Fla., his son, Anthony, said a family friend Charlie Stillitano, the Chinaglia was co-hosted a radio show Sirius XM.
Chinaglia was the best scorer ever in the North American Soccer League after playing for the Italian club Lazio. He scored 262 goals in his eight seasons with the Cosmos, which began in 1976.
Lazio also announced the death. Chinaglia lived in the U.S. since faced accusations of Rome from participation in an organized criminal group that tried to buy Lazio in 2006.
Chinaglia helped Lazio win its first Italian title in 1974 and later became club president. He played for Italy at the World Cup 1974th
With Cosmos, he played alongside Pele and Franz Beckenbauer. He was the top scorer of power in an area that included the finer points of the game, Pele and Beckenbauer calculation.
"I'm a finisher. This means that when I'm done with the ball, it is in the back of the net," said Chinaglia in 1978.
In 2000 he was elected to the American Football of Fame and the best player in the history of Lazio during the centenary of the club.
"I and the entire city of Rome express heartfelt condolences," Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno said in a statement. "For the fans of Lazio Chinaglia was more than a symbol. He was a player who made the banner along an entire generation of fans and emblem of the first title in 1974. And this is how we remember him.

Scholes: We are in perfect balance
Paul Scholes has warned Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City "funny things can happen" inManchester Unitedthe second half of the race for the title.

After finishing third in Champions League Group C, United, along with the seven other third-placed teams, now enter the Europa League at the Round of 32 stage. The other 24 clubs are comprised of the top two finishers from each of the 12 Europa League groups.When’s the draw?
The draw for the Round of 32 (and subsequent Round of 16) will take place on Friday 16 December at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.Who else is in it?
The final round of Europa League group-stage games are still to be played (Thursday 15 December), so at the moment the only clubs we definitely know will be involved are Champions League third-place finishers Manchester City (England), Trabzonspor (Turkey), Manchester United (England), Ajax (Holland), Valencia (Spain), Olympiacos (Greece), Porto (Portugal) and Viktoria Plzen (Czech Republic), as well as the teams already qualified from the Europa League group stage.
