Room Love: Colourful Art Wall
Elle Decor

What better way to make a grouping of artwork pop than by painting the wall a fabulous vibrant colour?
As much as I adore white rooms and gallery-like spaces, when I saw these brilliantly coloured walls with their charming mixes of framed art, I just felt a sort of "oh, yes, that is it!" kind of thing. Do you know what I mean?
Colour + Art = YES
I love

The Mill House
A serene home has been created in a renovated mill. The stone structure, with its neutral palette and wood elements, evoke a timeless feel, while the mix of vintage and classic furnishings add style and comfort. What a warm and elegant place to call home.

Aren't photo collages just brilliant?
I have always loved the idea of covering an entire wall in photos--being the image-collecting obsessive gal that I am!
I think the key to a great collage wall is letting it be messy, having layers, not trying to get it to be too perfect. I'd love to create a collage wall in the study of the Dream House. My boyfriend says he

bright & lovely loft
Bright white surfaces and pops of brilliant colour, along with a few eye-catching pieces of artwork, bring life to this Soho loft in New York City. This fabulous space is the home of tech entrepreneur Kathy Leake, who founded Media6Degrees.
My favourite elements of the home are the flocked Yves Klein blue chandelier in the lounge and the big pastel

Scripted
The written word--and I mean the hand-written word, not typed, texted, or otherwise machine-generated--has a power which we humans yearn to decipher. Whether it be a poem, a joke, or a love letter, written words call to us. They beg us to read them. Words evoke romance and drama, humour and pathos, serenity and pain. Very powerful stuff indeed.

Like a fireworks show for your ceiling...
The Raimond light by Moooi is a dazzling sphere of tiny white LED lights. I love seeing this light in a grouping, suspended in a huge space, like at Aria Ristorante in Toronto, Canada. Imagine having one of those lights hanging in a lounge or over a dining table. Wouldn't that be

Scandi Serenity
How do the Scandinavians do it? They just seem to have a way with pale soothing spaces, like this beautiful home, of Danish designer Hanne Berzant, who designs By Nord, a nature-inspired collection of homewares and lifestyle products.
In this home, I love the look of the pale wooden floors and crisp white walls balanced by a handful of darker pieces and creamy off-white elements. My

Le Burgundy Hotel in Paris
To keep with my traveling mood, today we are going on a virtual vacation to a fabulous new hotel in Paris, Le Burgundy.
Enjoy!
I'll post some photos (if I take any good ones!) from Melbourne, after I get back from our holiday. Wishing you all a lovely week and weekend!

Perfect Pitch
A dark and moody interior, home to stylist Jackie Astier, has caught my eye today. I've got to say, I don't usually go for dark rooms, but when they are this glamorous, my love of light and airy flies out the window, and I want to nestle into the charcoal tones of such a space. The lounge of this home is my favourite room, with its beautiful velvet sofas, mirrored folding screen, and

Berlin Beauty: the home of Nina Bergsten
Serene white spaces in the Berlin home of Nina Bergsten create a fresh, open, and welcoming mood. I love the touches of gold throughout the home, and the fabulous light fixtures in the dining room. My favourite part about this home is the tall arched windows. They look so elegant.
Have a lovely week, everyone!

I'm imagining an airy light-filled loft space, with lots of white, mirrors, and a handful of beautiful well-chosen pieces.
Somehow, when you put together the things you truly love, it just works.

A manor house in Kent, England
***
I have always daydreamed --and probably romanticized, the vision of living in a timelessly elegant house made of stone... like this gorgeous manor home located in Kent, England.
I love the lounge, with its curved fireplace and antiqued mirror walls, on either side, and the wall sconces. The home's subdued colour scheme, with touches of green, deep purple, and grey-violet, is

Who says you need colour to create a beautiful room? These images suggest otherwise.
I find these rooms soothing yet dramatic, lacking nothing for want of colour. Contrasts of light and dark, fascinating objects and artwork, along with touches of ornamentation, combine to entice the eye in these spaces.

A moment to relax...

With the holiday season upon us, and Christmas just a few short days away, I'm sure many of you are feeling a bit stressed out (I know I am!). So here is a relaxing little space, to help take your mind off of the fervor of festivity that's going on.

London Calling
***
The dusky glamour of this London home designed by Anouska Anquetil makes me want to slip into every single image. I love the subtle wall colors, the contrast between soft colors and darker tones, as well as the antique mirrors and touches of gold throughout the space--not to mention the adorable orange tabby cat. I could live here. Oh yes, I could. How about you?
